PEPPERMINT IGUANA, THE BOOK
We are currently working on a book, tentatively titled ‘Blogs, Blags and Desperate Bicycles’ (although this will undoubtedly change several times by the time we finish). It is going to be a snap shot of the UK DIY music scene, taking in bands, DJs, promoters, zines, sound systems and much more. A quick look around this ‘ere website will give you a flavour of what sort of bands we will be featuring. |

It will feature interviews with leading players on the scene, why they chose DIY over mainstream, the story of how they have managed and anecdotes of jolly capers along the way. There will also be stuff along the lines of: What’s wrong with the music industry? The pros and cons of downloading, the death of vinyl, growing up in a cultural backwater and is punk rock really relevant 30 years on. The DIY scene is too disparate for it to be covered comprehensively, so this will be wrapped up in a personal tale of how we have been involved over the years, going to gigs, promoting gigs and running an obscure fanzine that nobody can get hold of. If you are involved in the DIY scene and have something burning you want to contribute, e-mail us and we can talk about it. Maybe we can do something via e-mail, phone, carrier pigeon or, if you are feeling generous, you can meet us in a pub and ply us with strong cider. Watch this space! |
