Punk burned so brightly it was doomed to internally combust within a few months, in its original form at least. Out of the burnt out debris that it left behind would come ‘post-punk-indie’ and this Cardiff based outfit were right there on the cutting edge. Recorded flat out in three and half days in the Foel Studios in North Wales for £1000, the rapid and cheap recording achieved by using many of the first takes of tracks the recorded in a deliberate attempt to keep the music 'alive'. This really is back to basics stuff completely minimalist, yet enough of a beat to allow itself to be pop music, with some of the cheesiest organ this side of a Bontempi instruction tape. This would serve as a template for that first wave of ‘indie’ bands, like the Brilliant Corners, Scritti Politti, Red Guitars et al. Even Kurt Kobain cited it as one of the most influential albums he had heard. There are rumours they may be playing live in the not too distant future, for the first time since 1980.
