SOUNDS
This page will serve as your portal into the musical world of the Iguana... and therefore will probably be the busiest section of the site.

Most zines tend to write about one particular ‘scene’ or genre, or even one particular band. Here on Planet Iguana we just write about music that we like. A lot of the stuff you will find here could be classed as ‘underground’, in that we feature a lot of bands that plough their own furrow not too worried about stardom, fame and riches. Most of the bands here could be considered part of the festival scene, or perhaps the free party squat scene. That said though, along sides the likes of The Short Bus Window Lickers and Police Bastard, you will also find reviews of more mainstream stuff like Groove Armada or Rory Gallagher. In a fit of pomposity we gave the site the strap line ‘The Soundtrack To The Revolution’ and while many of the bands featured would consider themselves to be radicals, at the end of the day it is the sound track to OUR revolution. And what sort of stuff do we like? Work it out for yourself, a quick look around the site should give you a clue.

The level of the talent of the artists featured on this site will vary from the truly gifted to the frankly awful, but they will all share one common purpose, a desire to make music because they love music, not because of some desire to achieve fame. Some of them have achieved fame, but that is just an added bonus.

We have two rules

  1. We will only interview or put on gigs with bands we like.
  2. If anyone sends us something to be reviewed, we review it and are honest, if it is shit we say so. (No one would trust our opinion if we lied)

If you want your latest musical offering reviewed bung it in the post and we will post here what we think of it.

SONIC REVIEWS Reviews of CDs, Vinyl and anything that makes a noise.

At the moment this section mainly comprises the reviews that have been written since the last Iguana Zine, we are working towards uploading reviews from the old fanzines, when that is finished we will start working our way through the entire Iguana archive and anything that comes into our posession.... and of course new stuff as and when it lands here. Check regularly, cos we will be adding stuff almost every day.
